Love this place. Great surf and turf. Love the lunch options and deals. Good wine selection. Service is pleasant, not pushy and also attentive. This particular location also had a nice but small outdoor patio overlooking the park. Highly recommend for nice lunch with dress, drinks after work and would certainly take clients here.

I had a lovely birthday dinner here with my mom, step dad, and brother before we went to see the Addam's Family at the Ordway. I like the ambiance of the St Paul location much better than the one in Bloomington - it has a lot more character and decor to the place. The location is great. It's only a few minutes from the Ordway which makes it a great, no hassle place to go pre or post show. One of the first things that I noticed was how genuinely friendly and polite all of the staff was. Everybody was very attentive and helpful throughout the whole dining experience. Now, the good stuff...I had the lavender cosmo and the grilled north atlantic lobster tail accompanied by a yummy creme brulee birthday treat with fresh cut strawberries and whip. I am such a sucker for good, quality seafood and that is exactly what the lobster tail was!! I feel like my description of the food wouldn't do it any justice, so make a date and have a nice meal here. You won't be disappointed!

Food was good but I found the place to be a little stuffy. I think it was just more formal than I was expecting. And it was a little more expensive than I had been led to believe because the Yelp "take me to the menu" option showed me the lunch menu with many choices ranging from $14-22 and the actual dinner menu is more like $20-30, and up. Overall, a good experience but probably not likely to return any time soon.

Happy Hour review! The bar area at Kincaid's Restaurant is great. A beautiful bar and tons of seating for groups of 2 or 20. They have a couple long high top tables that work great for large groups. Since we were a smaller group we grabbed a small table and pulled up a couple extra chairs. Real cozy and easy to hear everyone at the table. We were definitely the loudest table in the place. Most of the clientele is a bit more reserved. If you were there Friday evening, I apologize for the table of loud, extra jovial people- but they do call it Happy Hour for a reason. So we settled in and began to peruse the Happy Hour menu. I was pleasantly surprised to see that there would be something for everyone. The drink options were extensive. A red wine, a white, several signature cocktails and all tap beers were just $4. On top of that, all of their wonderful appetizers are at a reduced price during Happy Hour. Not $4 or anything but still good deals. The crab and artichoke dip was solid, and I could have munched on the french dip sliders all night long. All in all Kincaid's offers good variety and good prices during Happy Hour. On top of that the service is top notch as well. We all really enjoyed the experience, though I do have a few minor criticisms. First of all, the signature cocktails on the Happy Hour menu were all very sweet. I was drinking the Basil Gimlets which were good, but tasted more like syrup than gin or lime. Biblical had the same issue with the Kentucky Sour. Too much syrup and sour, not enough bourbon. Being a little nit picky here, especially when I remember the cocktails were just $4. What can I say, I like to know there is booze in my drink. Secondly, it became obvious to me that the manager thought we were too boisterous for his establishment. Rather than asking us to quiet down a bit he was all passive aggressive. He hovered around our table to keep an eye on us, and our server kept bringing our tab. Rather than asking if we wanted another drink, he would show up with our bill. Then we would promptly send him back for more drinks. We weren't offensive, nor were we disregarding the patrons around us - we were chatting and laughing. But if he wanted us to leave, he should have just asked. We spent well over $250, and I'm sure the other nearby establishments would have been happy to take that money. I plan on going back to Kincaid's Restaurant for Happy Hour. That is if my friends and I are welcome back.

A new miserable experience and and I really like the place having been there in several times, but the slow service at the tables not the bar. Tonight I called in an order to go and stopped in and had a beer while I waited, paid for my dinner that was to go and then the waitress just disappeared. I set there for over 10 minutes with a $10 bill in my hand waving in the air waiting for weight person to come and take it so I can pay for my beer, no lock so I left so I guess so I ain't got a free beer at a deal for that and a half bad.

Kincaid's always kind of underwhelms me. It's easy to get caught up in the hype of the restaurant and it's definitely a good steakhouse, but there's nothing there that really blows me away. You'll never be totally disappointed eating here, but if I'm spending the coin on a fabulous dinner, I'd much rather hit up the St. Paul Grille.

Great place for special occasion. Our server, Todd, was spot-on with his service. Coffee was weak.

We went in during the 9pm-close HH and sat in the bar area. The bar here is really nice and comfortable. Has tables, high tops and plenty of room. The HH menu is full portion appetizers at a greatly reduced price (usually %50). The group of us got the following: Smoked beef carpaccio, not on HH but really good! 3 orders of the fresh oysters mussel ciopino warm brie and the Kincaids taste sampler with crab/artchoke dip, teriyaki filet bites, shrimp. The oysters were fantastic. 6 of them each order @ $7.95. They were fresh, briny and really tasty. I will be making a trip just for these. The price at HH times are great and make this a easy selection if you like fresh Oysters. They present them in a large bowl filled with ice, grilled lemon, hot horseradish, cocktail sauce, and a red wine vinegar with shallot sauce so you can top your oysters as you like. All the food we had was great. The teriyaki bites were cooked well, and the teriyaki sauce was really good. Not just all sweet, but had a bit of heat to it too. The macadamia nut warm brie was served with figs and apple slices and tasty as it should be! The mussel ciopino was excellent... at least 2 dozen mussels heaped into a bowl of light and hearty ciopino broth. This was really good and the broth should almost be served with a straw cause sopping up with the bread took to long! This is worth a stop during the HH and the deals. The food was great. When it got a bit busier for the late crowd service did slow down a bit and was hard to get the check.. but not terrible.

I normally am pretty nice about my reviews but this place just didn't deserve more than a 2. Given that we arrived a hour and a half before closing; on July 4 but really no excuses. We were amp to try this place out based on everyone's reviews but boy was it a disappointment. We order the $8 burger and fries that was their special and though the burger could use a tad bit more seasoning, it was a good deal. Don't get me wrong it wasn't bad but it wasn't good either. The thing that bugged us the most was the service. We were greeted by our waitress and we placed our order, three different waiters/waitresses stopped by our table to drop off our orders. Our burgers were chilling on the window (from what I saw at our seats) and our water was never refilled until we asked our original waitress twice and finally it was done by waiter #2. On top of all that, we overheard from a second waitress, next to us, that the $8 burger and fries included a beer...well hello waitress #1, when did you think it was okay to not inform us about this. When we approached her about it shes like yeah it does include it but mumbled something that i could not make out. All in all, service sucked I don't know who to tip now; waitress #1, #2, #3 (or neither).

Took my husband out for Valentines Day 2014 ended up at Kincaid's didn't have a reservation but they accommodated us anyway, sat in the bar area which was great, our server was excellent and the food was out of this world. Will go back soon.

I work across the street from Kincaids, so I've had the pleasure of having multiple business lunch/dinners at this place. Service is always good. No matter the time, place, or group size. The food is consistent; they don't usually disappoint. If you order the same thing everytime you went there, I'm pretty sure it'll come out the same. They have really good Mojitos! It's probably one of the best places to have Mojitos in the cities. Their menu might be a little pricier, but their happy hour menu is very very affordable.

Great lunch experience! I've only ever been to Kincaid's for lunch, and my experience has been great every time. First off, it was nearly empty the last time I visited. This is not rare for the lunch hour. Instead of being isolating (oh, how uncomfortable to be that only-table-in-the-restaurant) it felt cozy. Of course, the hostess seated us by the heat register in front of the window overlooking Rice Park. . . and that helped. The food was good, solid comfort food with a bit of sophistication. I would highly recommend the cornbread as a table-starter instead of (or in addition to) the standard bread. It's rich and warm and buttery (mmm...honey-butter) and has just a bit of a kick to it. (Not enough to scare even the mildest MN-dwellers, though.) The crab cake (well, crab sandwich) was delicious. Not too bready, not too "filled" with other spices (you know how some places add a lot of "stuff" to mask some not-so-fresh crab meat? They didn't do that, nor did they need to here). It was definitely not "light" fare, however. It was substantial--buttery and cheesy. The smoked salmon bisque was also excellent. Creamy, rich, heavy without *tasting* too heavy (oh, you deceptive smoked salmon bisque!). It was super-tasty and perfect for a hearty winter lunch.

The reason to come here is, quite simply, the happy hour. Daily from 4-6 and 10-close, you can enjoy half price appetizers and discounts on select beers and wine. Think about it: A dozen oysters on the half shell, half price. Crab cakes, half price. The addictive blue cheese and bacon chips, half price. You can eat and drink pretty darn well and escape without a monster check at the end. A recent visit to the late night edition found the bar area crowded with happy people enjoying happy hour. Sit at the bar, enjoy attentive service from a skilled bartender, and all is right with the late night world.

Has the green apple drop and oysters Rockefeller for happy hour. This was not only delicious but priced just right $5 and $9; best appletini and oysters I've had in ages! For dinner I had the seafood étouffée which was very nice, euro sized portions. Companions had the calamari and the crab/artichoke dip. Calamari was incredible, dip was very nice. All in all a 5 star experience.

We had dinner at Kincaid's before the "Blind Date" Canadian production at the Ordway and the "Blind Date" cast afterparty last weekend. I've heard many people's glowing reviews of the restaurant and I have to concur. Great atmosphere, great food, good service (our waitress was good but, could have been less hurried). Thanks for a great start to an awesome evening!

Ughghhh.... Wonder why there are 300+ people working here at one time? Because it takes three people to take a soup order over the phone, and three people to get the soup when I arrived. I spent $8 on a bowl of soup. Yes, $8. I got a tiny cup halfway filled up, and when I went back to ask if it was in fact the bowl and not the cup of soup they opened the container, looked at its contents and said, yes. Maybe they meant a TINY bowl of soup. So I ate the tiny bowl of soup feeling really ripped off, trying to enjoy my 50 cents-a-spoonful soup. I felt nasty for the rest of the day. Not good. I was so excited to start working in downtown St. Paul and to have this be a viable lunch spot, but never again.

Another under-whelming dining experience. Wasn't overly impressed by the food or the service for the price. There were four of us in our party, two of us ordered salads (one chicken, one grilled steak) which I think put our server off that they weren't hugely priced and probably wouldn't generate the hugest cumulative tip. The other members in our group ordered chicken and fish. They looked alright, but were both said to be mediocre. Our server was polite, but lacked personality until she moved on to her much bigger party and was as charming, outgoing and attentive as can be. She barely stopped back to our table. I've had much better food and service for the price.

Updated: they made it right eventually, but I still think this will be your experience if you come on an event night. This is why I have them at a 2 vs the original 1 but they should be a 4 based on prices and reputation I hate to say this but don't ever come here when there is an event at the Xcel. We sat in the bar area. They were severely understaffed, we arrived at 6:30 for an 8PM show. We got a couple of drinks but the food never came so we cancelled and left at 8:15. Everyone around us was commenting on how we needed to order multiple drinks and all our food the minute we arrived. On the way out we asked to speak to the manager who took our address and said he would send us compensation, but nothing was ever done. The frustrating thing was that rather than have decent food we had to wallow in the Xcel fare. What is equally frustrating is we walked right past Meritage that was completely empty and would have loved our business; we've eaten there before and will bypass Kincaid's next time.

Kincaid's is a family favorite. However, a bit disappointed with the "deals discrimination" between bar seating and restaurant seating. Their happy hour specials are decent and the food quality is great. Family favorites include: the Oven Roasted Dungeness Crab Artichoke Dip, Warm Brie w/Macadamia Nut Crust, their Three Tier Shrimp Platter, and the Calamari. In the main dining area, my favorite has always been the prime rib and garlic butter prawns. They have a good selection of food here and the prices med-high, but expected. More so, as a St. Paul native I am happy to see Kincaid's in its existing location to help the effort of the StP Downtown revival.

Did you know that Kincaid's was a chain restaurant?! I digress, I was not expecting to enjoy my meal here to be honest. When I got there it was packed and quite loud, and to be honest the hostess wasn't the most friendly either. After one drink at the bar had softened me up a bit and an appetizer had been served (Warm Brie with a macadamia crust **OMG**) I began to enjoy my experience here a lot! The service is slower than I am used to, but honestly that's okay when you're talking about the quality of the food that the group received. Everything was prepared to perfection, and the free flowing cocktails during happy hour were quite welcome as well! The bill at the end made us gasp a bit not going to lie, but when we split it between the five of us, it turned out to be quite a steal really: two appetizers, 2 cocktails each, an entree per person, and a dessert shared amongst all of us for only $35 a person +tip... Not too bad if you ask me! Definitely not somewhere I frequent, but still a very good place to check out if you are in downtown St. Paul for a show or sporting event!

Seafood Pasta dish was bland and boring, shrimp not cooked, one scallop and tons of chopped up salmon. For the price you pay for an entree it should be out of this world delicious. Service was so so. Two of the other entrees were extremely small servings for the price.

Almost the best. I say almost because I like Murray's better. My dining companion and I thought we should try another nice place to see what we like better. We liked Kincaid's, but didn't love it. We had a couple of cocktails in the bar before dinner. Dining companion had some cocktail with sage and some other crap he loved. I had a bit overly sweet mojito and an excellent lemonade/pomegrante/blueberry cocktail delight. Once seated we had a great server who was very knowledgeable. She recommended the warm brie with macadamia nuts which was the best appetizer I might have ever had in my life. My blue cheese salad was great, his Caesar was pretty good. I had a Halibut special - cooked perfect. I was not crazy about the veggies or potato accompanying the fish, but I wasn't there for the sides. He had some steak he liked. I tried a white wine flight with my meal that was a great match for the meal. We left full, but thinking about how the meal wasn't quite as good as our favorite restaurant. Would I go back - definitely. It was good, but not overwhelmingly great where I HAVE to go back.

Mediocre food, especially for a high-priced place. My wife's steak was under-done, and mine was over-done. The pepper brandy sauce which came with my steak had little flavor, as did the mustard sauce which was served with my wife's steak. This is not the quality of food you should get for $40 steaks.

while staying at the St Paul hotel, we happened upon Kincaid's and so happy we did! the service was awesome and our waitress knew the menu inside and out so she gave great recommendations. their portions are generous and i was so stuffed by the time we left and i didn't even eat half my meal. the food was great and i was so disappointed that the fridge wasn't big enough to keep my food cool. the ambiance was cozy and homey. we felt like we were in our own little corner and not distracted by nearby patrons talking.

I live in downtown St. Paul. In fact I live right across the street in the Lowry building. With such easy access you'd think I would go there often... but that's not the case. I've been to Kincaids many times for work as I also work in downtown St. Paul. When lunch or dinner is on the company Kincaids is one of the few places where, 'reservations are made.' However I've only eaten at Kincaids one time with family and friends. The food is good. The menu simple with enough diversity for most people to find something they like. They have a nice lunch menu. The wait staff are trained quite well and give great service. The interior design is top notch. So why the two stars? Kincaids has no personality, no warmth, and when I'm eating there I can't help but think that this is a very well run 'business' first that happens to be a restaurant second. Stepford Wives meet Kincaids. I travel a lot for work and pleasure and if I was better with words I might be able to describe that feeling when you walk into an establishment and immediately you feel a 'genuine' welcome that stays with you throughout your dining experience. At Kincaids they welcome you with a smile, sit you at a table, get waited on by nice wait staff, have a good meal... all the while feeling as if I was in the waiting room of my dentist. I walk out feeling almost relieved. After going the one and only time when my company didn't foot the bill a friend of mind after wards pulled me aside and asked me, "Why is this restaurant so popular?" Good question.

Quick business luncheon for the holidays- we won't be going back. Service inattentive at best (took orders, delivered drinks, delivered meal, delivered bill- that's it). "Specialty" dungeness crab open-faced sandwich salty and fishy, sent it back to the kitchen. $120+ for 5 of us- even after removing crab sandwich from bill. To be fair, lobster bisque pretty good, but they have portion control down to a science! Never again.

Everyone tells me about how good this place is but everytime I go I just think things are OK. I've been here a handfull of times but never had a memorable meal (food wise!). I've had steak once and thought it was fair. I've had the kobe meatloaf and thought that it was a bit dry. My dinner companions love their fish tacos here. Price is reasonable, and excellent for happy hour.

Server was knowledgable and friendly. Asked her how they got mushrooms so crispy and she told me. Got the salmon with pear-butter sauce. Not enough flavor in sauce, but fish was cooked perfectly and mushrooms were the star. Had warm Brie app; as expected. Classy, tasty, everything a swanky steak joint should be!

Kincaids is going downhill at the speed of sound. The Prices remain high, but the lack of quality is starting to suffer. I used to be a regular at this joint and it seems that the flair they used to have, ie Halibut Cheeks, lamb chops etc has been replace with Minnesota meat and potatoes. The service seems a little lowbrow these days too. Lets hope that the Mojito's, one of the best anywhere, doesn't go by way of the rest of the place.

Business lunch in St. Paul... I was pushed towards Kincaid's by one of the women at my office. What a great place for that kind of lunch. I kind of got the feeling the staff saw us coming a mile away. They were so courteous to wait until my manager was done giving his pitch before asking for our order. Everybody else went with the 1/2 sandwich/soup. Thanks but no thanks.. this is my first damn meal that I haven't eaten in my apartment in 2 weeks... I will have your finest salad please! Seafood Louie salad really was great. My only complaint is that with all the amazing seafood, fresh asparagus and tomatoes.. my lettuce just looked kind of sad. But I would be sad too if I was stuck on a plate with blue lump crab showing me up. I will be here again. The happy hour specials look great, I hope to find myself there (if anyone is willing to drive me home afterwards???)

Went here for lunch and I had their butter poached lobster Hoagie...though the bread didn't hold up as well as I hoped, it was still a pretty epic sandwich. Lobster samich with a fried egg on top, fried avocados on the side, with fresh made chips...can't go wrong. Nice environment and good service. Overall pretty good place for lunch.

Great food, and awesome outdoor patio for a warm spring night. All of the dishes we ordered were tasty, from the moist applewood smoked pork chop, to the parmesan-crusted chicken stuffed with goat cheese and spinach, to the special Thai-style mahi-mahi. Make sure to have dessert while you are there. The warm seasonal fruit cobbler was excellent, with a buttery crust and tart strawberry, rhubarb and blueberry filling. An excellent ending to a delicious meal.

There are two dinning areas at Kincaid's: dinning room and the lounge. I've had positive experiences at both, however, this is a reivew of the lounge only. As far as ambience, there couldn't be a better setting in the Twin Cities. Nestled in the beautiful Rice Park, Kincaid's is a warm retreat it the winter and a lively hotspot in the summer. Large paintings, chandeliers, and tastful vintage furnishings give it a classic feel, but in no way does it come off as outdated. Comfortable lounge chairs encircle marble tables, which provide seating for parties of up four people. Situated along the windows overlooking Rice Park are booths to accomodate larger groups. Service is not remarkebly good or bad, which is fine because the decor and food speak for themselves. The lounge menu includes appetizers that suite all tastes. The Baked Brie and Teryaki Tenderloins tend to be the favorites during my visits. The menu has enough selection for everyone to find somethings savory or sweet. Highly recommended!

The staff was friendly, the service was good. When I make a reservation for a specific menu item, then come to find they are out of said item once I arrive, I get mad. How can you be out of chicken and waffles? VERY DISAPPOINTING! The replacement choice was good, but forgettable, as I can't even remember what it was. With so many dining choices in this price point- I won't be back.

After walking past this place for years, I finally tried it yesterday. My twin brother and I decided last year that we would run the Twin Cities marathon and replenish ourselves with a meal at St. Paul's Kincaid's afterward. I have been to many great steakhouses in the Twin Cities and I was expecting Kincaid's to be just as good. I was anticipating getting a great steak, having some classic sides, and enjoying some typical Steakhouse/Chophouse desserts after my meal. I could tell the food would be good by peeking in the windows and seeing white table clothes and a classic 1940's atmosphere with red accents. I had their Seared New York Peppercorn Steak. I also sampled other plates that we had at our table- Lobster Bisque, Rock Salt Roasted Prime Rib and Slow Roasted Beef with Wild Mushroom Ravioli. Everything exceeded my expectations. I could hold my steak-knife with two fingers and cut my tender steak, the Prime Rib was just as tender as my steak and the Ravioli was out of this world! After our meal(s), we had the Burnt Creme and Waffle Ice Cream Sundae. Both of these desserts were spectacular. The Sundae was a great take on a traditional American dessert and the Burnt Creme was just plain amazing. I will definitely be back to Kincaid's because of the amazing service, atmosphere, and phenomenal food. This was the perfect way to end a perfect Twin Cities marathon.
